Have you heard of Biochar?
If not, meet Lopa Brunjes, Biochar Pioneer and Sustainability Advocate, one of the hundreds of women social and environmental innovators showcased on our directory. Biochar is essentially a porous charcoal, known to slow climate change by sequestering, or trapping, carbon that would otherwise have seeped into the atmosphere. It apparently also improves the fertility of the soil and the quality of ground water, leading to more productive agriculture. Lopa serves on the advisory board of the International Biochar Initiative and is on the board of Samavesha, a non-profit art collective. She is also a loud and proud member of Slow Money. Listen to her TED talk here.
