FROM THE GLOBAL TRIBAL NETWORK
This Month's Featured Social Innovator:
Lily Lapenna from MyBnk
MyBnk builds young people's knowledge, skills and confidence to manage their money effectively, and to make enterprising choices throughout their lives. Lily was made a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum along with only one other UK woman and this week, she has being inducted into the Ashoka Fellowship.
"Lily, give us your Top 3 Tips for women who want to make change locally and globally."
1) Learn by walking: don't wait till you know how to do things to get started, start and learn as you walk. Learn something new everyday and do something with it the next day.
2) Fail, forward, fast: don't be afraid of failing it is the best way to learn but it is important to move forward and to do it fast. Don't dwell on failure.
3) Listen listen listen: to what your team and to what your users are not saying to you! The more your team grows and the further removed you become from your participants/users, the more carefully you need to listen. Listen internally more than externally, people on the outside will always want to influence you, however it is your people on the inside who often have the ideas and the solutions.
and number 4 is a must: have fun with it...!

Mentoring for London Social Entrepreneurs- By BITC and KPMG
We’re all aware that the personality of the entrepreneur differs from that of corporate professionals, but the fact remains that both sides have many skills that will benefit one another. This is why BITC (Business in the Community), in association with KPMG, set up a mentoring programme for social entrepreneurs to be matched with senior business leaders. Currently matching 60 mentors to social entrepreneurs a year, BITC receive great feedback from both sides: For the mentors, it takes them out of their comfort zone and forces them to communicate their expertise to a new audience. For the social entrepreneurs, they gain a different perspective and help putting their ‘house in order’, making sure all the systems and processes are in place ready to grow.
